Just shut up, will ya?

So I got to listen to a little Howard Stern going to lunch today. Not by choice, but it was on in the car I was riding in so we listened, for a little while. The man is still making a big deal about being pulled off the air by Clear Channel and about the FCC fines being imposed on Viacom because of his show. I don't remember exactly when this happened, but it was several months ago. It's old news. We realize you're pissed off. We don't care. Your parent company is still carrying your show and Clear Channel made a legitimate business decision to no longer carry you. I'm sorry you're offended, but shut the F up.

And yes, we all know the reason you're in such hot water is because the entire Bush family is out to get you. I mean, why else would the entire government be trying to do everything it can to get you off the air? It's certainly not because you just might be offensive. But seriously, Howard, your a relatively intelligent person sometimes. You understand capitalism and should realize that the reason your show was canned by Clear Channel was because it became a bigger financial burden than they wanted to handle. If you say things people want to hear and drive ad revenue, you get more airplay than if you are offensive and don't drive ad revenue.

You shouldn't be shocked by any of this behavior from the public or the government. The HUGE outcry over the super bowl incident should have clued you in to the fact that the public is sensitive to things they find offensive. You'd have best been served by toning it down for a couple of months until something more important came along to distract people. As it is, you seemed to step things up and you wonder why you're in trouble. The FCC writes the rules, you broke them, take your punishment like a man and get over it.

On a somewhat related topic, why is it that the FCC can fine TV stations and radio stations for "indecent" material, but we can't keep porn off the internet. Is someone not paying attention to how the FCC is getting away with this? Just a thought.
