Debate: Can Less Emissions Lead to More Smog? I love it when a situation takes a turn that no one expects that might show the fallacy of particular policies or courses of action. Here we have scientists showing that smog actually increases over the weekends when the major pollutants that contribute to smog are down. Go figure. I'm not going to rehash the whole article, but read it, it's interesting. Especially this part. "The explanation comes down to the fact that chemistry is not a straightforward process." Of course, they fail to remind the reader that it's this same chemistry that leads to some of these silly policies or that some of these guidelines are more direct contributors to the actual price of gas at the pump than the barrel price of oil, but that's what I'm here for, I guess.
